What is a microfiber cloth?
A microfiber cloth consists of many thin individual fibers, which are about 60 times thinner than a human hair. Typically, a microfiber cloth is made of 20-30% polyamide and 70-80% polyester. Polyester makes the cloth robust and durable, while polyamide makes it soft and absorbent.

The special features of the microfiber cloth are the large number of processed fibers and their star-shaped structure. Due to their special structure, a positively and negatively charged electrostatic charge is created, which attracts and holds dust and small dirt. This makes microfiber products particularly suitable for car cleaning.
Microfiber cloths are classified according to their grammage, pile length, and weave. Grammage is given in GSM (= grams per square meter). The higher the GSM value, the denser and longer the fibers are woven. The GSM number usually ranges between 100-1500. Microfiber cloths with a high GSM number usually feel thicker and are suitable for tasks where little pressure should be applied. Microfiber cloths also differ in pile length. There are long-pile and short-pile cloths, each suitable for different areas.

The all-rounder in car care
A microfiber cloth is essential for car cleaning. It achieves a high cleaning effect on various surfaces and is suitable for many types of dirt. Microfiber cloths are versatile in car care, whether for cleaning windows, the interior, or the paintwork.
Which cloth is suitable for which application area?
Depending on the nature of the surface to be cleaned, a different microfiber cloth is used. In the following, we will go into the most important areas of the car. The right microfiber cloth for your car -> click here
Cleaning interior & windows:
If you want to clean the cockpit or your windows, we recommend a low-pile cloth with a GSM number between 200 and 400, which picks up and binds the smallest dirt particles between its fibers. The short fibers absorb little product and enable streak-free cleaning of glass surfaces. Waffle cloths are particularly suitable because they have a higher absorbency due to their small "pockets".

Polishing and sealing:
Since microfiber cloths are particularly gentle on paint, they are ideal for applying or removing care products. For applying polish, we recommend a short-pile cloth with a GSM value between 200 and 400, so that it does not absorb the care product. This is because the care product should be on the vehicle and not in the cloth. With a cloth with a low GSM value, you can also apply pressure more precisely. If you want to remove polish or sealant residues, however, a high-pile microfiber cloth with high absorbency is suitable. The long, protruding fibers can effortlessly and gently absorb product excesses without damaging the paint.

Insider tip: With our Rocket Black Laser-Cut Microfiber Cloth you kill two birds with one stone, as it is double-sided. The short-pile side is suitable for applying polish and the long-pile side for removing it.
Drying paintwork:
For quick and paint-friendly vehicle drying after car washing, it is recommended to use a microfiber drying cloth with long-pile fibers and a high GSM value (from 500). The higher the grammage (GSM) and the longer the fibers, the more water it can absorb. Long-pile cloths with a high GSM value are therefore particularly suitable for drying after car washing. A high fiber density also prevents scratches from occurring during wiping. The softer and plushier the cloth, the more scratch-proof it potentially is. Microfiber cloths with the twisted-pile weave are particularly well suited for drying. The fibers form a loop and are twisted in themselves, creating a comparatively large surface. This makes the cloth extremely absorbent.

How do I clean a microfiber cloth?
Microfiber cloths can be easily washed in the washing machine. A short wash cycle at 40° is recommended. For heavy soiling, it can also be washed at up to 60°. To increase its lifespan, you should put the cloths in a laundry net so that no lint from other laundry in the machine gets into the microfiber cloth. Fine detergent can be added as a detergent. It is important that no fabric softener is used, otherwise the fibers will stick together. You can dry the microfiber cloths either in the tumble dryer, preferably in a laundry net, or in the air.
