What is a glass sealant?
All you need to know about glass sealing for car windows!
Car windows are an important component of every vehicle and ensure the necessary safety on the road. They provide the driver with a good view of the surroundings and thus contribute to road safety. To optimize the performance of car windows and extend their lifespan, it is possible to treat the windows with a glass seal.
How does a glass seal work?
A glass seal is a special type of protective coating applied to the surface of car windows. It consists of a transparent polymer solution that protects the windows from weather influences and dirt particles. The effect of the seal is that rain and dirt no longer adhere to the window but bead off. This significantly improves the driver's visibility, which is a great advantage, especially in bad weather.

Are there different glass seals?
There are different window seals that differ in their ingredients. Here are two types that are most common for car window glass seals:
1. Ceramic-based seals: This type of seal contains ceramic particles that provide higher hardness and resistance to weather influences and cleaning agents. They offer longer protection than hydrophobic seals. The disadvantage here, however, is that the application should be carried out by a specialized workshop. Another disadvantage is the high cost compared to hydrophobic seals.
Advantage:
+ Durability up to 1 year or more+ Max. window protection (e.g. against stone chips)
Disadvantage:
- High costs- Only to be carried out by a specialized workshop

2. Hydrophobic seals: This type of seal ensures that water and dirt bead off faster and the driver's visibility is improved. The application is very easy to carry out and takes only a few minutes. This type of glass seal is the most popular because it is very cost-effective compared to ceramic-based seals and can be applied without prior knowledge. Hydrophobic seals often come in a pump spray bottle, and the application can be quickly refreshed as needed.
Advantage:
+ Easy & quick application+ Cost-effective
Disadvantage:
- Durability between 2-3 months
